Please bring any of your useful fishing-related web sites, and we will visit them as well. Exclusive Invitation to Nat Greene Members!

You may or may not be aware that we have terrific trout fishing near Chapel Hill, NC at a place called Clearwater Lake. I discussed this with a few of your members at the Banquet in March and they expressed some interest in fishing there.

At last night's board meeting, I was authorized to offer Nat Greene Fly Fishers the opportunity to purchase/reserve a maximum of 16 of the 28 slots we currently have available (a slot is defined in the attachment) at our member rate of $36.50 per slot (must purchase in pairs at $73 per pair). Triangle Fly Fishers is allocated a maximum of 160 slots (20 days) for the 2008-09 season. If you would want more than 16 slots I would have to make a couple of phone calls. Our thought is that your club would purchase the slots and resell them to your members - especially since we have such a short time left to purchase slots. Where can you go trout fishing for $36.50 a day - - especially given the price of gas . . . . It's cheaper than going to the Roanoke River, or the coast, or the mountains.

My apology on the short notice - - I was to have discussed this at our April board meeting but I missed the meeting ( I played hooky and went fishing).

I am enclosing a flyer (PDF file) which we distributed to our members. There is information about Clearwater Lake on our website - www.triangleflyfishers.com - click "Clearwater Reservations" on the left column. Also, there is an article in the Jan 07 Newsletter (http://www.triangleflyfishers.org/TFF_Newsletter_Jan-Feb_07.pdf ) about Clearwater. And, hopefully, I can answer any questions. They will be stocking Brook Trout (yes large brookies) and two (2) species of Rainbows for the 08-09 season. All fishing is catch and release. Rules are on the website.

This past weekend we had the Fish-Out where the fisher may keep their catch - - this is an annual event that takes place just before the water gets too warm for the trout to survive. I have enclosed a photo of my 10 year old grandson's catch ( I need to brag a little . . . OK a lot) which will show that these are not small fish. Incidentally, the man that operates Clearwater Camp told me he is putting some real bruisers in next year. The largest fish caught at the fish out, by an 11 year old girl, was a little over 20". - - - - Your members who purchase slots would be eligible for the fish-out.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Oh! We are having a program on "Healing Waters" at our Monday night meeting - - John Bass, founder of Healing Waters, will be the presenter. Perhaps some of your members would be interested in attending. By separate email I will send you a copy of the program flyer. We are also going to have a presentation on Smallmouth Fishing. and then we are drawing for the "Save Bristol Bay" Sage 4 piece Z-Axis, 8wt rod with a Redington reel and Rio line - a really really nice rod (it's not to late to purchase tickets - they are available on our web site)

Thanks for listening !
