Bob Clouser to Speak at 2009 Annual Spring BanquetBob Clouser will be the Special Guest Speaker at Nat Greene Flyfisher's Spring Banquet and Seminar on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Heritage Hill Banquet Facility on N. Church Street (directions).
See Bob's complete biographical sketch here. Clouser specializes in guiding fly fishermen for smallmouth bass on Pennsylvania's Susquehanna River. But he has been known, and was recently spotted, along North Carolina's coast, partaking in our state's cornucopia of fall fishing. Such trips help provide the fodder for Clouser's other occupation as a freelance outdoor photographer and writer. He has written articles in many fly tying and flyfishing magazines. He also has been featured in many fly tying and flyfishing videos, some of which have been shown on television nationwide. When not traveling, Bob oversees the family business - Clouser's Fly Shop and Mail Order Business in Royalton, Pa. He also is on the fly fishing advisory staff for the St. Croix Rod Company. He is a supporter of catch-and-release fishing and has been presented many awards for his conservation work to enhance smallmouth bass fishing in Pennsylvania. His awards include induction into the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame as a legendary angler, the Warm Water Committee Achievement Award presented by the Federation of Fly Fishers, the Dr. James Henshall Award presented by the Federation of Fly Fishers, 1995 Conservation Award of the Year presented by Susquehanna Smallmouth Alliance and the Charles K. Fox 1997 Rising Trout Conservation Award presented by The Cumberland Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
The technical seminar will be held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The evening banquet will be held from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm and will feature a presentation called, "“Fly Fishing Adventures,” which is geared towards a general audience including non-fishing spouses and young fly fishers. This years banquet will be catered by Brady Lutz and The Right Touch Catering .

The Nat Greene Flyfishers holds its annual fundraising banquet and seminar each spring. As many as 200 ardent outdoorsmen and fishermen attend this unique event, which features presentations by nationally and world renowned masters of the sport of fly fishing. This banquet is our only fund raising event of the year and therefore is the sole means of support for the club's many projects. Past club conservation efforts have included stream cleanups, stream restoration, and financial support of local, state, and national fish and wildlife agencies. In addition, Nat Greene has taken an active role in educating our local children, adults, and scouting organizations in the principles of conservation, ecosystem management, and in introducing them to the enjoyment of tying, casting, and fishing artificial flies. The afternoon seminar focuses on the more technical aspects of fly fishing such as casting and fly tying, while the evening banquet program is designed to appeal to a wider audience, and is usually enjoyed even more by the "unenlightened" non-fishing spouses than their flyfishing obsessed better halves! The banquet features a complete dinner as well as a silent auction of fine fishing and sporting gear. Also available will be artwork, crafts, clothing, books, and other items. In addition to many door prizes, the club will usually offer special raffle items, such as airline tickets and high-end fly rods. This event funds all of our charitable donations in support of conservation efforts locally and nationally (after approval by the clubs Board of Directors).
